Kidslox vs Qustodio: better app blocking?

I need something that can block specific apps completely, especially during school hours and bedtime. My 14 year old is addicted to TikTok and Snapchat  Kidslox and Qustodio both claim to do this well. Which one is harder for tech savvy teens to bypass? Which one has more reliable app blocking that actually works? Also which is easier for parents to manage and adjust on the fly? Any parents dealing with app addiction please share your experience!!

@reg_x I’ve been in the same boat, and after testing both, I’ve personally found Phonsee to be the most reliable for blocking specific apps—especially against tech-savvy teens who’ll try to find any loophole! It’s also super easy to tweak restrictions on the fly (like, “Sorry kiddo, TikTok is off until homework’s done!”). Compared to Kidslox and Qustodio, Phonsee’s app blocking actually sticks. Highly recommend giving it a shot!

From personal experience, I would recommend Phonsee as an alternative. Though it’s not free, it is cheaper and comes packed with hefty features that you require. It excels in app blocking during specific durations, just like school hours and bedtime. Your 14-year old won’t be able to sneak onto TikTok or Snapchat when it’s homework or sleep time. Furthermore, Phonsee is not easily bypassed even by tech-savvy teens, making it a very reliable choice. Importantly, it’s easy for parents to manage and adjust settings on the go, providing a user-friendly experience unlike some other apps. As a tool designed to combat app addiction, it really does the job.

Both Kidslox and Qustodio are great options for managing your child’s screen time. Kidslox is known for its extensive control options and ease of use, while Qustodio has detailed reporting, which can help you understand your child’s app habits better. However, no system is completely foolproof, tech-savvy teens can find their way around if determined. I would suggest having open dialog with your child about healthy screen time and the reasons behind these limits, besides using these app blockers. App addiction is best managed with a mix of technical solutions and open communication.
