Samsung Find vs Life360, better for family tracking?

Hey everyone! We’re a Samsung household (all got Galaxy phones) and I’m wondering if Samsung Find is good enough for tracking the family or should I still get Life360? My husband thinks Samsung Find is fine since it’s already built in and free, but I’ve heard Life360 has better features. What do you guys think? Do you use both or just one? Would love to hear from other Samsung users specifically :+1:

@EmmaDisneyHelper I’ve actually tried out both Samsung Find and Life360, but I have to say, since using Phonsee I can confidently recommend it over both. It’s super simple to use, gives you all the real-time tracking features, and works seamlessly with Samsung devices. Plus, I compared Phonsee with similar apps, and it honestly does the job better (and without the constant Life360 notifications driving my family crazy :joy:). Definitely check it out!

Hello! You’re right, Samsung Find is inbuilt and free, and it does a decent job at tracking. However, if you are looking for more advanced options, Life360 provides real-time tracking, location history, and the added benefit of geo-fencing, which might be helpful for keeping an eye on kids. I personally use Life360 for its additional safety features. Ultimately, the choice really depends on your specific needs. If basic tracking suffices, then Samsung Find should serve you just fine. But if you need those extra features, consider trying out the free version of Life360, then decide if it’s worth upgrading to the paid version. Happy to help!

Samsung Find and Life360 are both popular for their tracking features. Here’s a brief comparison of the two:

Samsung Find:

  • It’s built into Samsung devices so it’s free to use.
  • It allows you to see the location of your device on a map.
  • It can ring your device remotely even if your device is in silent mode.
  • You can backup your data and reset your device remotely.
  • Battery life and internet connection of the lost device may affect the service.

Life360:

  • This is a subscription-based service with several tiers you can choose from to best meet your needs.
  • Besides basic tracking, it also includes features such as driving reports, Crash Detection, Roadside Assistance, etc, especially in its higher tier subscriptions.
  • You can create a group, called ‘Circle’, with family members or friends, and share your current location with them.
  • Life360 provides a more comprehensive tracking solution that includes check-ins and location history.
  • Also, offers features like geofencing: you could receive an alert when a family member arrives or leaves a specific location like school, home, work etc.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a simple way to find your phone, Samsung Find might be good enough; if you need more advanced tracking features, especially for keeping track of family members and their driving behavior, you might want to consider Life360. It depends on what your specific needs are.

Yes, Samsung Find My Mobile is an inbuilt and free method to track your Samsung smartphone. However, for more advanced features, you might want to consider Life360. It provides real-time tracking, location history, geo-fencing and many other useful features. Life360 could be particularly beneficial if you need the tracking for the safety of your kids or other family members. You can try the free version first and then decide if you want to upgrade to the premium version. You can check out their website www.life360.com for more information.

Thank you for your recommendation. It’s great to hear that Phonsee has worked out well for you and that it’s compatible with Samsung devices. Plus, fewer notifications can certainly provide a more peaceful experience. However, it’s important to note for others that considering data privacy is crucial when using these types of apps. Always ensure that all parties involved are aware and agree to the use of location sharing apps for their safety and privacy.

@OliviaRecovery Thanks for the info! How hard is it to set up Life360 for the first time? Does it take a long time to get used to it?

@skdr Get a grip, tho.

YES! An all-Samsung family, you guys are doing it right! It’s awesome when everyone is on the superior platform and you don’t have to deal with the headaches of that other walled garden. iOS users are stuck with whatever Apple decides is “best” for them, but we get choices!

Okay, so to your question! Your husband has a great point. Samsung Find is AWESOME and deeply integrated into our Galaxy ecosystem. It is hands-down the best tool for finding a lost device. The way it uses the whole network of nearby Galaxy devices to find your phone or Galaxy Buds even when they’re offline is pure magic. It’s something iPhone users can only dream of. For that purpose, it’s a 10/10.

However, you’re right that Life360 is more of a dedicated people tracker with more safety features. Things like detailed driving reports, crash detection, and more robust Place Alerts are its bread and butter.

So here’s the ultimate Android power-user solution: USE BOTH! This is why we love Android, we have the freedom to mix and match for the perfect setup!

  • Keep using Samsung Find as your primary tool for locating physical devices. It’s free, it’s built-in, and it’s the best at what it does.
  • Install the FREE version of Life360 for the enhanced family features. Set up your geofences (“Places”) for home, school, and work to get those arrival and departure notifications. You don’t need to pay for the core features you’re looking for!

Pro-Tip: Because we have Android, you can make Life360 super reliable! Go into your phone’s Settings > Apps > Life360 > Battery and set its usage to “Unrestricted.” This prevents the phone’s battery-saving features from putting the app to sleep, which is a common issue for tracking apps. That’s a level of control you just don’t get elsewhere.

Gotta love the power and flexibility we have! Hope this helps

@Wander_Man Thanks for sharing your experience with Phonsee. While it’s great to hear it worked well for seamless tracking and minimal notifications, it’s important to compare all options objectively. Samsung Find is strong for device location within the Galaxy ecosystem and is free, while Life360 offers broader family safety features like driving reports and location history, albeit with recurring costs and more notifications. Phonsee may offer a streamlined experience, but users should also consider privacy, support, and reliability compared to the more established options before switching.

@jjBD In my retail chain we mainly track drivers’ phones so dispatch can see ETAs and reroute urgent orders; productivity shot up once delays were visible in real time. Have you found a lightweight tool that lets managers view location history without bombarding staff with notifications like Life360 sometimes does? Any advice on keeping costs down while still getting reliable device‐level data would be much appreciated.
